How We Rented An RV to Go Off Roading: Best Tips For Renting A RV

While we no longer need to rent an RV, (you can read here about buying an RV), we decided that we liked it so much, so we recently purchased one.

RVing and off-roading is something we really love to do! It will ALWAYS be a part of our life! Check out some of our off-roading adventures.

What we love so much about RVing is that you have your whole house with you while you visit beautiful places. You can park at campgrounds, beaches, BLM, the desert, (check out our desert trip) and so much more.

When we first deciding that we wanted to start traveling to different places to go off-roading we deciding to rent one first. This gave us the option to see if we really wanted to RV or stay in hotels. You don’t have to rent something this big, but you can check our Drummond Island trip here.

RVing has become more popular over the past few years, and for good reason. If you’re wanting to know if renting an RV is a good idea, here are a few good reasons.

Renting an RV has many good reasons such as:

It gives you the opportunity to test out RVing by renting one first.
If you’re traveling with family and friends, it is a lot of fun traveling in an RV.

What really is the best way to rent an RV? How do I find RVs for rent near me?

There are many different ways to rent an RV.

You can find an RV for rent by owner, or you can rent from a big company. If you want to have a bigger selection and close to your home, I recommend checking out RVshare.

RVshare is a company where RV owners list their RVs when they’re not using them. We rented an RV to go to Drummond Island. You can read about our off-roading trip to Drummond Island here.

You can find RVs to rent near you when you use RVshare and they will also deliver or you can pick up the RV when you rent from RVshare.

The best thing about using RVshare is it’s so easy to rent an RV or a toy-hauler.

If you’re ready to rent an RV to go off-roading head to RVshare’s website. You can search for a Class A, Class B or Class C RV. You can even rent toy-haulers, campers and pop-ups.

After you find an RV that you would like to rent, you can select when you would like to rent the RV to see if it’s available. Once you select the dates you would like to rent the RV you will be in contact with arranging for the pickup.

When we rented an RV, the owner made a video of the walk through of the RV and how everything worked to save time when we picked up the RV.

Once your RV rental is over, you will have to fuel up and dump the tanks before you return the RV.

What is the average cost to rent an RV for a week?

If you are looking to rent an RV for a week to go off-roading, RV rentals vary widely in price.

You may be able to rent an RV $100 a night, all the way up to $400 a night. The price varies based on what type of RV you will be renting and how long.

Renting an RV there are other costs that you may pay for.

Here are some of owner’s common costs (other than the actual RV rental):

Campgrounds and RV parks
Gas/Diesel
Food
Mileage on the RV (you usually get a predetermined amount of mileage and then charged for anything beyond that)
